Dani Carvajal has admitted he feels close to being able to make his long-awaited comeback from a knee injury.
The Real Madrid right-back was struck down by the gruesome injury back in October 2024 but recently confirmed he was back out training on grass as he continues to work towards his aim of returning before the end of the season.
In a recent interview with club media, Carvajal reflected on his return to the grass and how his knee was feeling, admitting his confidence over an imminent comeback has only grown.
"When you step on the grass with your boots on, the comeback feels even closer," he said. "I never thought I would have that feeling when doing a very light, individual training session."
According to Relevo, Madrid medical staff have been left stunned by just how much work Carvajal has put in to speed up his return. The veteran defender is training wherever possible and is believed to be well ahead of schedule.
Indeed, it is claimed that staff have had to slow Carvajal down on a number of occasions as he has been determined to push himself as much as possible.
Carvajal has publicly insisted he hopes to return in time to play at the Club World Cup in June but there are even suggestions he could be playing again in the next two months. Madrid's La Liga campaign concludes at home to Real Sociedad on 24 May.
In the meantime, Carvajal continues to perform his leadership duties behind the scenes and was recently spotted comforting another injured defender, Eder Militao, whose recovery from a second ACL injury in as many seasons is behind schedule.
