Leeds United reach their first FA Cup semi-final since 1987 this weekend, with injuries shaping both squads. A 2-2 draw at Bournemouth, courtesy of Sean Longstaff's 97th-minute strike, lifted Leeds to 40 points and turned focus to Wembley.
According to Leeds Live, Chelsea's 3-0 defeat at Brighton cost Liam Rosenior his job, with former U21s coach Calum McFarlane stepping in. The Blues are eighth, and Leeds can point to a 3-1 win under Enzo Maresca plus a 2-2 comeback at Stamford Bridge.
Daniel Farke said Ilia Gruev has a meniscus injury and will miss the rest of the season, with a return targeted for the start of pre-season. Jayden Bogle has a foot knock and is a doubt, though there is hope he can feature. Anton Stach has rolled his ankle, is not yet in team training and will be assessed over the next 72 hours.
Chelsea’s biggest blow is Estevao Willian, who suffered a serious hamstring issue against Manchester United and has a grade four injury that ends his season. McFarlane said he was unsure whether the forward might even make the World Cup, but confirmed he will not be available.
There was better news as Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer trained and are in a good place, though both will be checked again and the camp is hopeful. Jamie Gittens remains out with a hamstring problem from January and has no clear return date. Levi Colwill, sidelined since a pre-season ACL injury, continues rehabilitation.
