Leeds United could have a fight to retain first-choice keeper Karl Darlow this summer, with his deal up in the coming months. The Athletic reports that Manchester United are considering an approach for the Wales international.

Darlow made 22 Premier League appearances for Leeds last season after stepping in for Lucas Perri, delivering a series of calm displays. The 35-year-old was shortlisted for save of the season and has established himself as Wales' number one under Craig Bellamy.

Manchester United are thought to be seeking extra depth in goal, with back-up Altay Bayindir expected to leave. Darlow's homegrown status could increase interest, and his form means competition for his signature was always likely.

Asked in late April about his goalkeeper situation, Daniel Farke declined to discuss future talks while stressing how much he trusts and values Darlow. He pointed to selecting Darlow in last season's crunch period, ahead of Lucas Perri despite strong cup performances, and praised his character as well as his displays.

Outside attention introduces uncertainty around the position, although Leeds want to keep Darlow and are looking to offer him a new deal. The club also tied down his Wales team-mate and captain Ethan Ampadu last week on a four-year contract, with chairman Parag Marathe noting it was important for him and Farke to retain the squad's core where possible.
