Daniel Farke has set out the next steps in talks with the Leeds United board as they visit the London Stadium later today.
According to Leeds Live, survival was secured by West Ham’s dramatic loss to Arsenal a fortnight ago, leaving Leeds safe with three games to spare. Farke’s deal has 12 months to run and supporters want a renewal, while owners the 49ers are discussing how to turn Leeds into Premier League regulars.
The atmosphere is expected to be pensive and anxious, and Farke accepts the stakes and the crowd could shape the contest. He said that, were he in West Ham’s position, he would tell his players to be on it from the first minutes to send a message to Tottenham.
He expects a fired-up opening and warned Leeds must be ready for a quick, intense and emotional start.
On the next phase, he said last week Leeds must be ambitious, and current talks focus on the next goals and, crucially, the processes and actions to achieve them.
Alongside Sunderland, they have ended the two-year trend of promoted clubs going straight back down. Farke does not want a status quo in the long run, but is content for now to enjoy the moment.
