David Storch has confirmed his family hope to complete a takeover of Sheffield Wednesday before the end of the season.
Sheffield Wednesday have had a season to forget as they prepare for a huge summer following their relegation to League One.
In truth, matters on the pitch have mattered very little for all connected to the Owls for some time, as there have been genuine fears over the future of the club.
After entering administration in October, a consortium led by James Bord had been in pole position to buy Sheffield Wednesday, but he withdrew from the process.

That put the Yorkshire outfit back in a difficult position. However, there was plenty of interest in the Owls, with the Storch family named as preferred bidders earlier this month.
Since then, the necessary EFL checks have been taking place, but there have been positive noises suggesting progress has been made in the background.
And, David Storch has given more detail to that, as he shared a message on social media that revealed they have now ‘cleared a major hurdle’ as they look to complete a deal for Sheffield Wednesday ‘before the end of the season’, which is on May 2.
“I'm pleased that we cleared a major hurdle yesterday as we move towards our goal of taking ownership of this wonderful club by the end of the season.
“I'm grateful to the EFL and the administrators for such productive conversations this last week. I want you all to know that my team and I are working tirelessly, and are absolutely committed to doing everything we can to fight for the best possible outcome for Sheffield Wednesday and our incredible fans.
“Tomorrow, I fly back to the UK for a week of meetings with a wide range of experts to ensure we hit the ground running and deliver on our promises both on and off the pitch. I look forward to seeing many of you in Sheffield. Please come over and say hi if you see me around town.”
You would understand if Sheffield Wednesday fans didn’t celebrate until everything is signed and sealed, but these updates are very encouraging.
The EFL checks seem to be going smoothly, and with Storch seemingly confident that this could be finalised in a matter of weeks, there is plenty of reason for optimism.
Obviously, they will be judged by their actions once their takeover is complete, but the way the Storch family have interacted with Wednesday fans is good to see.

They are open to communication, they have not made any bold, outlandish claims, and they appear to operate in a sensible, professional manner, and we know they have the wealth to make a big difference to the club moving forward.
That’s not to say instant success should be expected. Wednesday are set to start next season with a points deduction, and there will be limits on the wage bill, although ‘positive’ talks have been held with the EFL on that subject.
Either way, it’s clear major work is needed at Hillsborough to make the club competitive once again, but there will be a belief they can push on with the Storch family running things.
So, hopefully this is complete in the coming weeks, and it will ensure this miserable season ends on a high for Sheffield Wednesday if the new ownership is in place.
