Sunderland’s transfer work is gathering pace, with movement in the Dayann Methalie pursuit and new lines on Ernest Poku and Simon Adingra.
Bild claims Sunderland are trying to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Ernest Poku, with the Bundesliga club open to talks at around £21.4m for the Netherlands under-21 player, who is contracted until 2030. The 22-year-old can play across the front line and posted six goals and 10 assists last season. It remains unclear how advanced Sunderland’s interest is.
La Gazzetta dello Sport and Leggo suggest Roma have shortlisted Simon Adingra after his Monaco loan, with sporting director Tony D’Amico an admirer and the finances seen as manageable. Sunderland are said to value the Ivory Coast winger at about £30m.
Adingra is under contract at the Stadium of Light until 2030, so Sunderland are under no immediate pressure to sell. TEAMtalk reports several clubs have registered interest, though no formal offers have been indicated. His situation is among the calls facing Régis Le Bris and Florent Ghisolfi.
RMC Sport previously reported Sunderland reached a five-year agreement with Toulouse left-back Dayann Methalie, and L’Équipe says talks are continuing after an opening offer of about £17m was rejected. The Guardian reports Newcastle decided against a bid, while Aston Villa are understood to have enquired.
