Dayann Methalie ‘wants’ Sunderland move as £25.7m Toulouse talks continue | OneFootball

Dayann Methalie has reportedly chosen Sunderland, with Toulouse holding out for £25.7million as negotiations continue. A Belgian journalist on X reported that the 20-year-old wants the move and that fresh talks are due.

Sunderland are understood to have agreed a five-year contract with the highly rated left-back, but a deal between the clubs is still to be struck. The Black Cats have stepped up their pursuit this week.

The same post said Sunderland’s latest proposal tops £21.4million including add-ons. L’Équipe reported the opening offer was about £17million, which Toulouse rejected.

Toulouse’s position has been shaped by Ipswich Town’s purchase of striker Emersonn, believed to cost around £24million with as much as £3.5million in add-ons. They are now seeking an even larger package for Methalie, who made 31 competitive appearances in his breakthrough season and has attracted interest elsewhere.

Left-back is a priority for Régis Le Bris after Dennis Cirkin’s summer departure. Reinildo is the only established senior option on that flank. Sunderland are also targeting a right winger following Bertrand Traoré’s exit, with a left-sided centre-back and further attacking depth possible as the focus stays on quality over quantity.
