Luis de la Fuente believes Nico Williams is on course for the World Cup this summer, though the Finalissima may come too soon. Athletic boss Ernesto Valverde has declined to set a return date.
According to as.com, the Spain coach estimated a recovery of around three weeks, a window now being reached. He said the winger feels much better after two weeks of treatment and appears to have about one more week of specific work.
De la Fuente added that he has spoken to the player and found him in good spirits. He suggested that if progress continues without setbacks, Williams should be in strong shape for Canada, United States and Mexico.
Williams was in Madrid on Wednesday for a new external treatment, then travelled to Donostia to be with the team for the second leg of the Copa semi-final.
Before the Barcelona match, director of football Mikel González said Williams is ahead of schedule but the club will not take risks. He has missed 14 matches, and at times the pubalgia has limited his ability to beat defenders. His return would be a major boost in the fight for the Conference.
