Robert Lewandowski is one of the FC Barcelona players whose future at the club remains highly uncertain as he enters the final phase of his current contract. With no renewal agreed so far, the coming weeks, particularly in April, are expected to be decisive in determining whether he continues in Catalonia.

Given his stature in European football and his contractual situation, it is only natural that the Polish striker is attracting significant interest from across the globe. Clubs from MLS and Saudi Arabia remain attentive to his situation, while in Europe, both AC Milan and Juventus have made their moves.

In this regard, AC Milan appear to have taken the lead in the race for his signature. As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t SPORT), Lewandowski has offered himself to the Rossoneri and is open to entering negotiations over a potential move.

His representatives have already held talks with the Italian club earlier this week, with their proposal reportedly being prioritised despite a strong offer from Chicago Fire FC.

The Italian side is aware that they cannot compete financially with offers from Saudi Arabia or MLS. However, their strategy is focused on sporting appeal.

The Rossoneri are prepared to offer Lewandowski a two-year contract and a key role in the team under Massimiliano Allegri, where he would be guaranteed a starting spot.

The possibility of playing in the UEFA Champions League and competing for the Serie A title further strengthens their position. Importantly, Lewandowski is currently their top target in the market, and they do not have any alternative profiles lined up.

At the same time, Barcelona are yet to initiate formal renewal talks with the striker, although a meeting is expected soon. The Catalans are expected to propose a one-year extension with a significant salary reduction, potentially lowering his fixed wages while including performance-based incentives.

The sporting aspect is also expected to play a crucial role in Lewandowski’s decision. The striker is understood to be open to a reduced role, especially with the club planning to bring in a new starting forward. However, he wants clarity from Hansi Flick regarding his role in the project before committing his future.

Despite the growing external interest, Barcelona remain Lewandowski’s priority for now. He is settled in the city and comfortable at the club, but also understands the need to align with the team’s long-term vision.

With Milan pushing strongly and Barcelona yet to make their move, the situation remains open. Lewandowski is expected to gain more clarity on his future by the end of April, and as things stand, all options remain on the table.
