Nathaniel Phillips decided the game in the 55th minute with a towering header from a set piece, as West Bromwich Albion beat Queens Park Rangers 2-1.
Early on he signalled his threat at corners, winning first contacts and nodding a set piece across goal to force the visitors to pack the six-yard box.
He then attacked Callum Styles' delivery to glance into the top right (55.), timing his run to exploit a flat zonal line and convert from the centre of the area.
Phillips finished with eight clearances, three aerial wins and one block, plus 48 accurate passes from 54, steadying West Brom without the ball and calming their build-up when under pressure.
Because he dominated aerial space and second phases at restarts, Queens Park Rangers' crossing threat faded and West Brom controlled the key moments after the break.
