Decisive figure rescues late point for Benfica against Braga | OneFootball

Evangelos Pavlidis converted a penalty in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time to earn Benfica a 2-2 draw against Braga.

In the 64th minute, his goal was overturned by VAR, but the Greece international kept stretching the back line and demanding the ball.

Águias' substitute then forced two saves, first with a glanced header from the centre (80.), before a left-footed drive from range was held (81.).

He finished with four attempts, three on target, five touches in the box and two aerials won, underlining his presence in the area. He is second in the Liga Portugal scoring chart on 22 goals.

When Andreas Schjelderup drew the late foul, VAR confirmed the spot kick and Pavlidis steered his right-footed finish into the top left corner.

Encarnados remain third and visit Estoril next. Braga stay fourth and host Estrela Amadora.
