Mateo Sanabria won it in the 89th minute with a close-range finish, giving Bahia a 2-1 victory over Mirassol.
Introduced after the hour, the Argentine forward immediately carried threat for the visitors, seeing a low effort blocked from the left side of the box (71.).
He kept attacking the back post and, when the ball broke left of the six-yard area, he swept in the winner with his right foot (89.).
Sanabria finished with two attempts, one on target, two touches in the box and two successful final third passes across 21 minutes, a sharp cameo that flipped the contest.
With Tricolor Baiano enjoying 58.5% possession and sending 17 crosses, his penalty area runs stretched Mirassol's defence and kept Esquadrão de Aço on the front foot.
Tricolor Baiano rise from fifth to fourth in the table and visit Flamengo next in the league. Mirassol travel to Internacional.
