Jhon Arias struck in the 53rd minute, his calm left-footed finish putting Palmeiras on course to beat Botafogo 2-1.
After the restart, Arias timed his run onto an Andreas Pereira pass and guided the shot into the centre (53.), the game's turning point for Verdão.
He kept demanding the ball and quickly carved openings. He released Maurício on the break (66.). Moments later, he slipped Arthur into the box (68.), forcing Fogão to retreat.
Arias finished with four attempts, two key passes and six possessions won, plus 31 accurate passes from 34 and 13 successful final third passes. The numbers underlined his blend of end product and control in the decisive areas.
With three successful dribbles and four touches in the area, his movement dragged the Glorioso back line around and kept Porco on the front foot through the second half.
Verdão visit São Paulo next. Fogão travel to RB Bragantino.
How high would you rate Arias's performance tonight?
