Léo Pereira bent a free-kick into the top right in the second minute of first half stoppage time, doubling Flamengo's lead as they beat Botafogo 3-0.
The centre-back's strike came from a dead ball on the cusp of the interval, his left-footed hit arcing over the wall and beyond the goalkeeper to give Fla control at the break.
After the restart, Pereira stayed aggressive, stepping out to shoot from distance twice as Fogão's back line retreated, with one drive blocked and another pushed away by the goalkeeper.
He finished with three attempts, two on target, plus 53 of 55 passes and three clearances, a tidy, front-foot display that helped Mengão play out calmly and keep Glorioso penned in for long spells.
Fla rise from sixth to third and host Remo next. Glorioso visit Palmeiras next.
