Dejan Kulusevski has shared a positive new update on his recovery from the knee injury which has kept him sidelined throughout this season.

The Sweden international underwent surgery on a patella injury, initially described by then-manager Ange Postecoglou as a knock, shortly after the conclusion of last campaign and is yet to return to the pitch.

"It's a complicated injury,” he said. “Where it’s important to make sure there’s no pain in the knee.

“That’s why he got an injection and it hopefully will help. So in three to four weeks’ time, he’ll be on the grass pain-free."

Pressed as to whether the Swede would return to competitive play before the end of the season, Frank admitted: “I don’t know.”

Kuluevski’s name was also left out of Tottenham’s squad for the Champions League knockout rounds, suggesting a comeback is not close.

New video shared by the player, though, seems to suggest a return could be closer than first thought.

Posting to his 1.3million Instagram followers, Kulusevski shared a video of himself in the gym at Hotspur Way going through an intensive set of single-legged squats with his injured right leg.

No concrete timeline has been set for the player’s return, but Tottenham’s new manager will likely be the man to update the prognosis.

Kulusevski’s return would be a considerable boost for Spurs, who have had dreadful luck with injuries this season.

Forwards have been particularly hard-hit. Among those currently sidelined are Wilson Odobert, who tore his ACL during Frank’s last game in charge, while Mohammed Kudus, James Maddison, Richarlison, and Kevin Danso are all unavailable, too.

Striker Dominic Solanke has also spent long stretches of this campaign sidelined with a niggling ankle injury.
