Paris Saint-Germain trashed rivals Marseille 5-0 in the Ligue 1 at Parc des Princes on Sunday evening, extending their winning streak in the competition to seven matches.
Ballon d’Or holder Ousmane Dembele put the defending champions ahead in the 12th minute, tapping Nuno Mendes’ cross into the net.
Marseille nearly got an immediate response through Amine Gouiri whose close range effort was saved superbly by Matvey Safonov.
PSG were on the attack again in the 21st minute as Bradley Barcola did well to wriggle way into the area and curled a strike towards goal, only to be denied by the woodwork.
Dembele added a second for PSG on 37th minute, taking advantage of Leonardo Balerdi’s poor pass to race through on goal, before beating Jeffrey De Lange at the near post.
Dembele has now become the fastest player to score a brace in Le Classique since the 2018/19 season, and the 13th player to do the same same for PSG.
Five minutes into the second half, Desire Doue came close to the advantage after a brilliant move, but was denied by the woodwork.
The hosts made it 3-0 in the 64th minute through Facundo Medina’s own goal.
Moments later, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia added to PSG’s cushion with a first-time volley, following a pass from Dembele.
Kang-In Lee completed the rout in the 74th minute, rifling past De Lange at the near post after combining with Senny Mayulu.
The victory sees Luis Enrique’s side reclaim top spot in the Ligue 1, two points clear of second-placed Lens.
