A long-time member of the goalkeeper ranks at Barcelona has opted to take his talents to La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid this week.
The player in question? Ander Astralaga.
Shot-stopper Astralaga had for his part spent the last eight years developing on the books of Barcelona, making his way through the ranks to ultimately take his place between the posts for the club’s reserve outfit.
This past season, the 22-year-old departed on loan, racking up some much-needed senior minutes in the colours of Granada.
And along the way, Astralaga evidently did enough to convince those in a position of power at the aforementioned Atlético Madrid of his talents.
As confirmed on Thursday, the young Spaniard has put pen to paper on a contract with the Rojiblancos for the seasons ahead.
After departing Barcelona as a free agent, Astralaga was quickly sounded out by the board at the Metropolitano, who have since tied the goalkeeper down to terms in Madrid.
