A recently-departed member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has this week agreed on the terms of a move to Germany, with Bayer Leverkusen.
The player in question? Lucas Vázquez.
After spending the entirety of his career to date on the books of Real Madrid, versatile full-back Vázquez is now officially a free agent.
This comes after those behind the scenes in Spain’s capital opted not to offer the 34-year-old an extension to his expiring contract terms earlier this summer, following the arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Vázquez, in turn, has been linked with a whole host of clubs from across the continent and beyond over the last couple of months.
And as alluded to above, early this week, one such suitor appear to have beaten out the competition to his signature.
As per a report from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:
‘Lucas Vázquez to Bayer Leverkusen, here we go! Deal agreed with former Real Madrid right-back who joins Bayer as free agent. Medical already done secretly and deal to be signed on Tuesday.’
