Deportivo Alaves interested in signing Anderlecht midfielder on a free | OneFootball

HNB are reporting that Yari Verschaeren is attracting interest from La Liga side Deportivo Alaves. The 24-year-old, who was highly regarded when he broke into the Anderlecht team as a teenager, is set to leave the club this summer on a free transfer. Deportivo Alaves have been reportedly interested in the attacking midfielder for some time, but Verschaeren may want to wait to see what offers are available.

Verschaeren made his debut for Anderlecht as a teenager during the 2018/2019 season, playing 22 games and scoring twice. His best season for Anderlecht came during the 2021/2022 season, where he played 45 games with nine goals and six assists. Varschaeren has been linked with a move away from Anderlecht for some time, but these never seemed to materialise, with injuries also getting in the way. As his contract ran down, it became increasinly unlikely that he would sign a new deal, especially after seven goals and four assists in 49 games last season.

This season the 24-year-old only started 12 of his 28 league matches for Anderlecht. Overall, Verschaeren played 38 games for the club this season, scoring twice and grabbing four assists. He leaves Anderlecht having played 262 games for his boyhood club, scoring 33 goals.
