We eagerly await the start of the new campaign, which will also mark the start of manager John Eustace’s first full season as the Rams’ boss, after being appointed back in February.

The hottest talk a Pride Park centres around Charlotte FC striker Patrick Agyemang, who has been linked with a $7m move to Derby, and related parties have all since been piling in with their thoughts.

Here, Football League World round up the latest on Agyemang and everything else happening at Derby…

Talks held with ex-West Bromwich Albion midfielder

Derby are reportedly set to battle Stoke City for out-of-contract West Brom man John Swift, according to Birmingham World.

The midfielder made 36 Championship appearances for the Baggies last term, scoring three goals and assisting one, but was released from the Midlands outfit following the expiry of his contract.

It could therefore make for a cheap deal for Derby, but as many as four Championship clubs are believed to be interested.

The 30-year-old also reportedly has admirers in Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the United States, so the Rams will need to move quick if they want to land Swift.

Derby unlikely to go back in for Yates

Jerry Yates spent last season on loan at Derby, netting 10 goals and providing four assists in 42 Championship outings for the side.

Wales Online reports that parent club Swansea City are likely to be willing to sell the 28-year-old to fund other transfer business.

It may have been expected, following his loan spell, that the Rams might weigh up a move, but any hope of an approach, according to the same report, was dashed when Paul Warne departed.

Former USMNT stars Charlie Davies and Stuart Holden open up about Patrick Agyemang

Ex-USMNT striker Charlie Davies has praised Agyemang’s mooted move to Derby, ahead of next year’s World Cup across the Atlantic.

Speaking to CBS Golazo, as quoted by Derbyshire Live, Davies said: "I do like the move in the sense that he's going to Europe, playing a lot of games, and getting those matches. The intensity and pressure will mount.

"Now, is this the best move in football history for Patrick Agyemang? No, but it's a step up from what he's playing in with Charlotte.”

That was a sentiment shared by former Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday man Stuart Holden, who also picked up 25 caps for the US.

Speaking on the Alexi Lalas show, as quoted by Derbyshire Live, Holden said: "For a young player, I think it is a step up in that this point of his career, it's a different type of challenge.

"It puts him in an environment where he's going to be forced to grow to compete in a different way that we're going to see a little bit more from him. I think we will find out maybe where his level is at that level.”

Lee Hendrie backs Jon Russell signing

It was revealed exclusively by Football League World last week that Derby are warring with Oxford United, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke for Barnsley midfielder Jon Russell.

We’ve since spoken exclusively to Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie for his thoughts on the proposed move, and he believes Russell would make a great midfield partner for Ebou Adams.

“Jon Russell is a more dynamic midfielder who can get forward, join attacks and score goals,” Hendrie told FLW. “So, I think this would be a great partnership in the Championship.”
