Derby County are set for a trip to Sheffield United in the near future
Derby County supporters have taken issue with one element regarding their upcoming away trip to Sheffield United.
John Eustace’s side will be looking to bounce back from a poor opening to their 2025/26 campaign after the international break, having accumulated eight points in their first nine matches, recording just a single victory in that time.
The Rams currently sit 20th in the Championship standings, just two points clear of the relegation zone, which isn’t the progress that was expected following a promising transfer window.
After keeping Derby up last season, Eustace was allowed to bring in a number of exciting new recruits, such as Carlton Morris, Patrick Agyemang, Rhian Brewster, Lewis Travis and Ben Brereton Diaz.
Up first is a trip to Oxford United, which represents a real opportunity to score points over one of the few teams that are currently below the Rams in the second-tier standings.
Clashes against Norwich City and QPR at Pride Park will be tough contests, but Eustace will hope to use his home advantage to full effect and try to put some much-needed victories on the board.
After that is a visit to Sheffield United, which has been the source of major controversy throughout the Derby County fanbase.
Information was recently released for Derby County’s trip to Sheffield United on November 1, which naturally included how much tickets would be priced at.
A basic adult ticket would set a supporter back £38, which hasn’t gone down well with the Rams’ faithful.
Some fans took to social media to voice their displeasure, clearly unhappy about how much money Sheffield United were charging.
“£38 for Sheffield Utd vs Derby in the EFL 2 bottom 5 teams,” stated one supporter. “But if I want to go and watch a Premier League game it would cost me £30 to watch better football. Something ain’t right.”
“Everyone needs to say no,” suggested another. “Only works if everyone does it.”
One fan decided to poke fun at the Blades’ recent managerial drama, which saw Chris Wilder appointed as boss for a third time following Ruben Selles’ dismissal.
“£38! Robbing gets,” commented one of the Rams’ faithful. “Probably getting a redundancy pot in place for when they sack Wilder for the third time.”
Others among the Derby fanbase believed that their club was too nice when charging away teams less money and should start reciprocating the treatment they are given.
“I don’t understand why clubs always rinse us,” questioned a supporter. “Yet we’re always fair with prices to away fans visiting us.”
“Hope these prices are reciprocated,” simply stated another.
Although supporters aren’t happy about how much they are being charged for the trip to Sheffield United, their presence will be much needed in the Bramall Lane away end.
Given how the standings currently lie, the clash between Sheffield United and Derby could be one that has great ramifications at the bottom of the table, with both teams suffering poor starts to the season.
Hearing their fans roaring them on throughout the contest will provide the Rams with an extra element of motivation to get the job done. A win could be absolutely critical come May and is an opportunity Eustace’s side can’t pass up on.
