Désiré Doué’s (19) performances at Stade Rennais alluded to a bright future and earned him a big-money move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer. However, having made the €50m switch to the Parc des Princes, things are yet to go to plan.
Despite making 12 appearances in all competitions, he only has one goal contribution, an assist in Ligue 1, whilst he has only made three starts in all competitions. Doué is the victim of substantial competition in the midfield with the likes of Joao Neves, Fabián Ruiz, Vitinha, Warren Zaire-Emery, and Lee Kang-in all to contend with.
So far, and it is still very early days for the France youth international, he has yet to live up to expectations at PSG. Within this context, Doué is “disappointed” and “frustrated” by how things have gone thus far at PSG, according to L’Équipe. The club, however, are not worried about the situation, whilst manager Luis Enrique sees the midfielder as a great player for the future.
