Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has weighed in on whether his team missed the services of Relebohile Mofokeng against Zimbabwe on Friday.

South Africa were held to a frustrating goalless draw by the Warriors, which saw their 2026 FIFA World Cup dreams hang by a thread.

Meanwhile, the highly rated Orlando Pirates starlet is absent from the latest camp as he withdrew due to an injury and was replaced by Mduduzi Shabalala of Kaizer Chiefs.

When quizzed about missing Mofokeng's services to unlock the stubborn Zim wall, Broos swiftly refused to delve deep into the matter.

“I don't want to talk about players who couldn't be here today [Friday]. This is not fair to the players who played this game because they did everything to win that that game,” said Broos.

"So, it should be very easy now to say this one and this one [were not there]. I am very sorry I don't do that. For me, they make a good performance [vs Zimbabwe], they fought for it but again the result is not what we wanted.

On the other hand, Mofokeng has been subject to scrutiny for his perceived dip in form as he is yet to register a goal but has a solitary assist in 12 games across all competitions this season for Pirates.
