Concern is spreading across the fanbase of La Liga giants Barcelona on Thursday evening.

This comes amid fears that a key member of the club’s defensive ranks, namely Pau Cubarsí, has suffered a fitness blow.

Barcelona of course marked their return to action a short time ago.

In the club’s season opener in the Champions League, the Blaugrana made the trip to England, for a meeting with Newcastle United.

When all was said and done in a testing affair, Hansi Flick’s troops emerged triumphant, courtesy of a brace on the part of Man of the Match Marcus Rashford.

As alluded to above, though, on an otherwise positive evening for Barcelona, one setback may have been forthcoming on the personnel front.

A little over 20 minutes from time, the aforementioned Pau Cubarsí was surprisingly hooked from proceedings by Hansi Flick.

Speaking to the media post-match, defensive partner Ronald Araújo was therefore asked if he was aware of exactly why.

And the Uruguayan went on to explain:

“I think Pau had some discomfort in his knee.”
