Valencia winger Diego López has sustained a sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee during Saturday’s training before the Levante match, ruling him out of the weekend squad. According to Superdeporte, follow-up tests confirmed the injury and did not reveal further major structural damage.

The setback occurred in the final session ahead of the league fixture, prompting an individual recovery plan for the Asturian attacker. He has three LaLiga goals this season and, despite losing his starting spot in recent months, has featured in 22 games under Carlos Corberán.

He will follow a medical, physiotherapy and reconditioning programme at the club’s training ground, with a gradual return once there is sufficient clinical and functional improvement to rejoin group work.

No official timeframe has been set, with his availability dependent on progress. His absence could be around three weeks in the best-case scenario.

This injury adds to Valencia’s fitness concerns, with Diakhaby and Foulquier already out and Danjuma also sidelined. Only Thierry’s possible return against Villarreal could offer Corberán a lift.
