Diego López suffers right ACL injury, sidelined until 2027

Diego López ended his league campaign in the worst way, with tests on Sunday confirming an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his right knee, according to AS.

The injury occurred midway through the second half against Barcelona. His immediate pain suggested a serious knee problem.

Team-mates rallied around him in the dressing room, where he already understood the setback would keep him out for months.

The club’s medical staff and the 24-year-old are deciding where he will undergo surgery. He will have the operation in the coming days.

The recovery period for this type of injury is typically seven to nine months, so he is not expected to return to action until 2027. His rehabilitation will begin in the summer.
