Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone batted away questions over Antonin Kinsky after the Tottenham goalkeeper was substituted after just 17 minutes on Tuesday evening.
The goalkeeper was handed a rare opportunity in the Champions League by Igor Tudor, only to be substituted after just 17 error-strewn minutes.
A poor clearance gifted Atletico an opening goal, and a mishit pass let them score a third, and Tudor quickly replaced Kinsky with Guglielmo Vicario after little more than a quarter of an hour.
Kinsky went straight down the tunnel, after Tudor appeared not to acknowledge the player when walking off, and was followed by several Spurs substitutes who were consoling him.
Simeone was asked about Tudor’s decision to substitute Kinsky after the game, which ended 5-2 to Atletico, but was in no mood to discuss it.
"No, I hadn’t seen that at a professional level," Simeone told reporters.
"It’s not my problem, it's theirs, their coach's and the goalkeeper's, and we’re focused on ourselves, not on someone else’s decision-making."
Tudor faced stinging criticism from all angles after the game, with former Spurs keeper Joe Hart saying he was "heartbroken" for Kinsky and ex-Manchester United keeper Peter Schmeichel accusing the manager of "killing" the Czech shot-stopper's career.
Asked if he had spoken to the player, Tudor replied: "Of course, of we speak. He understands everything, it’s a big lesson, unfortunately it happened in this big game.
"Sport is like this, it’s not even about him it’s about us. We need to keep working."
