You could compare Inter's performances to a dance rather than a game sometimes - a team that doesn't just win, but turns every pass, every moment, into part of a bigger picture. Tonight was one of those nights at the Mapei Stadium: five goals, total control, technical brilliance and unforgettable moments.
And at the heart of it was Lautaro Martínez. It wasn't just any goal, but 171st for Inter, putting him third on Inter's all-time scorers list, equal with Boninsegna. He saw the ball, controlled it and curled it in with his left foot - a touch will go down in history while looking effortless. But it wasn't just Lautaro. Akanji and Luis Henrique both scored their first goals for Inter, and Federico Dimarco, the creator on the left, provided three assists, bringing his tally this season up to eleven, matching Maicon in 2009/10. Since 2004/05, no Inter full-back had ever recorded three assists in an away Serie A game. Tonight, Dimarco was all that and more: heart, precision and pure spectacle. It was a deserved and decisive victory, giving Inter another three points and keeping them top of Serie A with 58 points.
Sassuolo started brightly, looking to suprise, but Inter responded with patience and composure. In the opening moments, Dimarco cleared a certain goal off the line from Koné - a clear warning that this would not be an easy night for the hosts.
In the 11th minute, Inter scored the opening goal. Dimarco's corner set up Bisseck, and there it was. From there, the play was fast, clean, fluid and every attack was a threat. Dimarco hit the crossbar from a free kick, while Lautaro and Thuram looked for the second goal with clinical precision. In the 28th minute, it was 2-0. Dimarco on the left, perfect cross and Thuram's finish. Inter controlled the game, dictating the rhythm and keeping Sassuolo at bay. The first half ended 2-0, but the best was yet to come.
Inter got straight back to action in the second half. In the 50th minute, Lautaro collected a loose ball, turned and scored. 171 goals for Inter, matching Boninsegna. It's more than a stat - it's history, consistency and artistry all in one. Shortly after, the fourth goal arrived. Dimarco's corner, Akanji rose highest and headed it home (his first goal for Inter). Dimarco wasn't just creating assists, he was the spark, the link between every move - the invisible conductor.
Finally, in the closing stages, Luis Henrique capped it off, turning a goalkeeping error into a powerful strike into the top corner. His first for Inter, the fifth of the night. Inter controlled the game from start to finish, conceding nothing. Five goals, dominance and a performance to remember.
