Doku: I’m going to miss Pep a lot

Jeremy Doku says he’s going to miss Pep Guardiola when the manager leaves Manchester City this summer.

Guardiola will depart the Etihad Stadium after 10 glorious years in which he’s led us to 20 major trophies.

He bowed out on Sunday with an emotional speech following his final home game before taking to a parade through the streets of Manchester on Monday evening.

The manager has also had a major impact on Doku in the three seasons since the Belgian arrived in England, with the No.11 stepping up another level in 2025/26.

The 23-year-old scored eight times and contributed 14 assists and was nominated for the Etihad Player of the Year honour.

Speaking on the bus as it made its way from the city centre to an event at the Co-op Live, Doku thanked the Catalan for his impact on him.

“I’m going to miss him a lot,” said Doku.

“His way of coaching and giving advice. He’s a legend, one of the best managers ever.

“He deserves his rest and I’m so grateful he gave me the opportunity to play for the Club.”

Doku says he’s pleased with the role he played in the campaign, while insisting he can still get even better.

“I just try to play my part,” he said.

“I think we did well, we had ups and downs but we ended the season with two trophies. I’m happy with my own performance as well, things to improve on but I’ve seen progress.”

In that interview he also touched on the incredible support seen on the streets of Manchester as our men’s, women’s and academy teams celebrated the numerous successes this term.

“It’s amazing. Having all these people here for us after this long season, we always feel the support so happy we can celebrate with them,” he summarised.
