Dorival broke his silence on Monday, following his Corinthians dismissal, posting a video to say goodbye and reflect on his spell in charge.

He highlighted the backing of the Fiel and memories of lifting the 2025 Copa do Brasil at the Maracanã and the Supercopa Rei at the Mané Garrincha. He also thanked president Osmar Stabile, his staff, players and club employees.

In December, close to Christmas, he phoned Stabile to offer an amicable parting, noting he had not been hired by the president nor by the incoming sporting director. Stabile told him he would remain until the end of the president’s term, aware a difficult year with four competitions lay ahead.

He added that over the months there were disagreements with the board about the need for reinforcements for the squad. He underlined the opportunities given to academy youngsters André Luiz, Dieguinho and Kayke.

He arrived at Parque São Jorge in April 2025, replacing Ramón Díaz’s staff, champions of that season’s Paulista. His record was 25 wins, 19 draws and 19 defeats, a 50% return, with 67 scored and 56 conceded. Assistant Lucas Silvestre took charge of three matches, one win and two defeats.

Despite recent inconsistency, he leaves with two trophies, the 2025 Copa do Brasil over Vasco da Gama, ending a national drought since 2017, and this season’s Supercopa Rei after a 2-0 win against Flamengo. Corinthians visit Platense in Buenos Aires on Thursday at 21:00 in their Libertadores group-stage opener. Fernando Diniz, who has a verbal agreement with the board, is expected to be on the touchline.
