Dorival dismissed by Corinthians after nine-game slide, from drought-ending cup to 2026 stutter | OneFootball

Corinthians have dismissed Dorival Júnior after a nine-game winless run, extended by a 1-0 defeat to Internacional in the Campeonato Brasileiro. He had delivered the Copa do Brasil and the Supercopa do Brasil during his spell.

According to Meu Timao, Dorival took charge on 28 April 2025 after leaving the Brazil job, replacing Ramón Diaz, and inherited a side dumped out of the pre-Libertadores. He steered them to a fourth Copa do Brasil before the year ended.

In 2025 league play, Corinthians managed 37 points from 30 games, finishing 13th. In the cup they eliminated Novorizontino, Palmeiras and Athletico Paranaense without conceding, edged Cruzeiro on penalties after a 2-1 loss, then beat Vasco 2-1 at the Maracanã after a 0-0 first leg, ending an eight-year national drought and giving Dorival a fourth triumph.

Early 2026 brought a congested schedule, a short squad and issues for Memphis Depay, Rodrigo Garro and Yuri Alberto, yet the Supercopa was won 2-0 against Flamengo. After a 1-0 win over Athletico Paranaense on 19 February, they went nine without a win, exited the Campeonato Paulista early and suffered meek defeats to Fluminense and Internacional.

He leaves Corinthians 16th in the Brasileiro and with an overall record of 63 games at 49.74 percent, 25 wins, 19 draws and 19 defeats, with 67 goals scored and 56 conceded.
