According to Meu Timao, Corinthians have opened 2026 with a congested run, four matches since their Campeonato Paulista debut against Ponte Preta in under two weeks, and Dorival Júnior has outlined plans for the immediate stretch while underlining the need for signings.

After the draw with Santos at Vila Belmiro, he said player fitness could only be assessed on Friday when recovery begins, and that important decisions will follow in the coming days. He also lamented what he viewed as refereeing interference that cost points important to their classification.

The schedule now brings Velo Clube in the Paulistão, the Campeonato Brasileiro opener against Bahia, then the Supercopa do Brasil meeting with Flamengo on 1 February.

Recruitment has been set as a priority by the board, with Dorival praising football executive Marcelo Paz. He wants a more complete squad quickly to allow changes during games without losing collective level.

Corinthians have confirmed three additions, centre-back Gabriel Paulista, midfielder Matheus Pereira and Uruguayan right-back Pedro Milans.

Moves are advanced for forward Kaio César from Al-Hilal and midfielder Alisson from São Paulo, both on loan. A deal for Fortaleza goalkeeper João Ricardo is also close, subject to medicals planned for March.

Beyond the Paulista, Corinthians face a full 2026 that includes the Brasileiro, the Supercopa do Brasil, the Copa do Brasil and the Libertadores.
