Dismissed by Corinthians after the defeat to Internacional in the 10th round of the Brasileirão, coach Dorival Júnior used social media to say goodbye to the Fiel Torcida. In the images, the now former black-and-white coach revealed that he had approached the board in December, offering to step down.
After nine games without a win, the 63-year-old coach could not withstand the pressure in charge of Timão and became the 10th manager fired in the 2026 Brazilian Championship. See below what the former black-and-white boss said in his statement:

“Hello, faithful Corinthians supporter. Because of everything that happened yesterday, and not having had the chance to address you, I’m here to leave a special thank you. From the bottom of my heart, for everything we experienced over these last 11 months. They were unique and remarkable moments. What we saw in December 2025 at the Maracanã, and especially the takeover of Brasília in February 2026, were unique and special moments that will certainly remain in my heart for the rest of my life,” he began.
“I tried to act with as much transparency as possible every time I addressed you. I fought and defended Corinthians’ interests with all my strength. We went through the worst moment in the club’s history and even so, with unity, with the strength that the coaching staff, the players, and especially the fans showed us, we managed to deliver two major national titles to Corinthians,” he continued.
“In December, close to Christmas, I called president Osmar Stabile and offered to make an amicable agreement, even because I had not been hired by him, nor by the future football director who would come to take over the club, so I felt professionally obligated to make myself available for a decision to be made. At that moment, the president told me no, that we would go until the end of his term,” he revealed.

“Knowing that we would have a very difficult year, with four competitions being played, I was really insistent at many moments, because I needed a slightly deeper squad, a more complete squad, one that would give us options to make changes throughout the season. I was indeed insistent about some signings that, for me, would be very important and specific, especially because we lost 11 players (from the previous year to this one), and brought in only 7. I fought for the club’s best condition, because we had very important competitions to play throughout the year, with an even higher level of demand, which would certainly bring us more and more difficulties,” he explained.
“However, I leave not only a technical and financial legacy through the achievements, but the main one: the emergence of young prospects from the youth academy. I pointed out to the board that, if sold at the right time, they would certainly be the club’s biggest sales in recent years,” he stated.
“I understand the moment we were going through, but I reiterate my confidence in this group of players, because they are capable of achieving great results later this year. I want to leave a special thank you to president Osmar Stabile, a very responsible and very humane person, to the entire coaching staff, especially to the group of players, and to the club employees, who welcomed us in a very friendly and family-like way. We created within the training center an environment that was not only professional, but above all one of people who respect and like one another. To you, faithful supporter, my heartfelt thanks, you make the difference, God bless you,” he concluded.
End of the road
Corinthians announced on Sunday night (5) the dismissal of coach Dorival Júnior. The decision was made after the team reached a streak of nine matches without a win, worsened by the 1-0 defeat to Internacional in the Brazilian Championship.
Dorival had taken charge of the team on April 28, 2025, shortly after leaving the Brazilian National Team, filling the vacancy left by Ramón Díaz. He found a struggling Corinthians side, eliminated in the Libertadores preliminary stage and facing performance issues, but managed to lead the club to a fourth Copa do Brasil title.
After almost a year in charge of the team, the coach leaves with the side sitting in 16th place in the Brasileirão. The 2026 season began with a title, the Supercopa do Brasil, but performances declined, especially during the Campeonato Paulista.
The coach’s numbers are:
