Dorival’s request, Hugo Souza’s speech: Corinthians’ Copa do Brasil progress

After securing a spot in the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil, Corinthians released behind-the-scenes footage of their matches against Athletico-PR. In the first game, at Arena da Baixada, Timão won 1-0. In the return leg in Itaquera, they confirmed their qualification with another 2-0 victory. The full video was published on the club’s official YouTube channel, Corinthians TV.

The production starts by showing the squad’s arrival at the stadium in Curitiba. Next, the cameras enter the locker room, capturing the warm-up, conversations among the players, and instructions from the coaching staff. At this moment, Dorival Júnior sets the tone for the initial speech.

“We’ve already noticed our previous mistakes. Today’s game here is a tough one. Either we give it our all, or once again we’ll leave (without the result). Our commitment to each other is to go out there and settle this match. Everyone needs to be ready, those on the field and those off it. We’re going to give our all for 90 minutes,” said the coach.

Right after, the players head to the field for the warm-up. Back in the locker room, just before the match, Ángel Romero calls the team’s attention: “We’re ready to do it again, to make history.”

Hugo Souza reinforces the message: “Just imagine for a second what today’s game will bring us and where we want to go. The dream we have of lifting that trophy, which will etch our names in the club’s history. That’s our goal and it starts today, leaving nothing behind, everything on the field!”

The footage then moves on to the match. The best moments are shown, including Gui Negão’s goal after an assist from Matheuzinho, which secured the Corinthians victory. The young striker celebrates in front of the cameras: “I thank God for the goal and the win. We knew it would be a tough game, here at their home. Unfortunately, we made some mistakes.”

At the end of the match, Dorival gathers the squad in a huddle once again. He congratulates the group on the result but asks for extra focus for the upcoming challenges. The video then cuts to scenes from São Paulo, opening the segment dedicated to the second game.

In the return leg, the script is similar. The players arrive at Neo Química Arena in a lighter mood than in the first match. Raniele, still recovering from injury, shows up to greet his teammates. Meanwhile, the others prepare for the game, both in the locker room and on the pitch. Before kickoff, Memphis Depay receives a tribute from president Osmar Stabile for his historic goal-scoring record with the Dutch national team.

In the final moments before heading to the field, the squad receives new motivational speeches. Garro leads: “Let’s go, let’s go, we’re getting closer to our goal, one more step, one more step.” Dorival adds: “Attitude from the start, let’s not let them win the first balls!”

Memphis and Hugo Souza also speak, asking for calm and emphasizing the importance of turning the fans’ support into strength on the pitch.

With the match underway, the cameras capture the Fiel’s celebration and the main highlights. Garro opens the scoring with a pass from Gui Negão, who, in the second half, scores again to seal the result. Hugo Souza even saves a penalty from Benavídez, crowning the performance. The players’ celebration is intense.

In the locker room, the goalkeeper closes the video with another speech to the group, acknowledging the performance and drawing laughs with a joke: “It’s important to win, important to advance by confirming the favoritism we knew we had. To carry it with action, with attitude, like we did today. Congratulations on the win, now let’s keep it going. May we keep winning, may we keep performing victories also in the Brazilian Championship. Another match without conceding a goal. Six matches without conceding. President, thanks for the private jet,” said the goalkeeper.
