According to Sky Germany, Borussia Dortmund are weighing up a move for KRC Genk’s Konstantinos Karetsas, identified as the preferred successor to Julian Brandt.

Brandt left at the end of his contract. The 18-year-old is understood to be open to joining Dortmund, but Genk’s €35 million valuation is viewed as the main hurdle.

Karim Adeyemi’s impending switch to Barcelona could bring in up to €29 million including bonuses for BVB, which could help finance any deal.

Karetsas delivered 18 assists in 49 appearances for Genk last season, and also scored three goals.

The attacking midfielder is a Greek international, with 10 appearances for Greece, three goals and one assist.
