Douglas Luiz reveals desire to stay at Juventus after scoring in friendly | OneFootball

Serie A side Juventus took on Nice in a pre-season friendly, grabbing a 2-0 win. Douglas Luiz was on the scoresheet and has now revealed his wish to stay at the Bianconeri.

The Brazilian hasn’t had a smooth last two years in his career. After failing in his season in Turin, he was loaned out to Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa but despite glimmers of hope, things didn’t quite change.

There have been suggestions that Luciano Spalletti wants to assess him in pre-season and this seems to have encouraged Douglas Luiz.

After the win over Nice, told TMW about his future plans.

“Yes, that’s what’s on my mind and my first thought since came back. My priority now is to stay here and show everything I can do, my best for this club.”

He clarified that scoring will help his case and he will do all it takes to impress Spalletti before the start of the campaign.

“It can definitely help me. I can show the coach and the club that can aim for the best, and I can demonstrate on the pitch why I was signed.”

Spalletti may have similar ideas

Spalletti has shown quite a bit of trust in Douglas Luiz and there don’t appear to be too many clubs after the midfielder. The Italian is always a fan of players who can control games and dictate the tempo, which is something the ex-Aston Villa man can definitely do. It won’t be a surprise if he does end up being a squad player next season.
