Coventry City responded, but Daniel Peretz saved Josh Eccles' header (51.) and then denied Haji Wright (61.) as the hosts pushed for a leveller.

James Bree then crossed from a corner for Kuryu Matsuki to prod in from close range (85.), giving the visitors vital breathing space.

Shea Charles conceded a penalty in the first minute of second half stoppage time when Victor Torp was fouled. Torp converted from the spot in the second minute of second half stoppage time to set up a tense finish.

Seven minutes were added and Peretz saved again from Brandon Thomas-Asante in the closing stages to protect the points.

Coventry City finished with 20 attempts and 57.1% possession. The Saints managed eight attempts and made 40 clearances.
