This will likely be a long summer ride for FC Barcelona as they look to find solutions in the transfer market. For the Catalan giants, it is important to invest smartly and sign the right players that they need. So far, however, Barcelona have not officially made a signing.

While most reports are suggesting that the case of Joan Garcia is basically done and dusted, all that is left now is for La Liga to approve the release clause paid by Barcelona. Once that happens, it is simply a matter of time before the Catalan giants can make the Spanish goalkeeper’s arrival official.

However, beyond Garcia’s arrival, there is the curious case of Nico Williams to consider. For Barcelona, he was considered to be one of the options that they could look at for a new left-winger this summer, and this consideration was revived following a recent meeting between Deco and the player’s agent.

Beyond just the meeting, however, Williams has also taken other steps to make sure that Barcelona knows just how committed he is. According to an update from Fabrizio Romano, the 22-year-old Spanish winger has even made other interested clubs aware of his preference now.

The likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich have now been notified about the player’s desire and preference to join Barcelona this summer. This is a massive step, as it clearly identifies that his only objective in terms of a move this summer would be to Barça.

For the English club, he has even been labelled as a dream target. Similarly, he was being followed by FC Bayern Munich since quite some time, and this news of the player’s preference will undeniably be a blow to the transfer plans of both clubs.

Other options to consider

However, the Catalan club still has to make a final decision on the matter. Barcelona still have several names to consider and look at before they can make a judgement like that, but this latest gesture from Nico Williams has made him a serious contender again at least.

For now, however, players like Luis Diaz and possibly even Ivan Perisic are on the radar for Barcelona. With the club having to assess various variables and factors such as age and price, it will be interesting to see which direction they take by the end of the summer.
