Due to visa issues, Musa Njie leaves his Swedish club
After arriving last August at Östers IF for a trial, 18-year-old Gambian winger Musa Njie is being forced to take an involuntary break from his Swedish adventure.
The club, newly promoted this season to the Allsvenskan, confirmed on Monday that the player has returned to Gambia following the expiration of his visa. According to sporting director Ola Larsson, it’s more of an administrative setback than a real goodbye:
We remain in constant contact with Musa and his representatives. As soon as possible, he will return to us this autumn. He’s a very promising player and we look forward to continuing his integration.
Njie, regarded as a talent to watch, will not have the immediate chance to prove his worth in Sweden. But Östers IF, currently in the relegation play-off position in the league, hopes to soon be able to rely on his pace and attacking flair.
