Speed, sacrifice, and endless energy. These are the traits that Denzel Dumfries has brought to the team during his time with Inter, helping to forge a bond that continues to grow: Denzel Dumfries and Inter together until 2028. The Dutch winger has become a key figure in Simone Inzaghi’s tactical setup. His journey continues with determination after three years in which he has made 147 appearances and scored 13 goals.
During these seasons in Nerazzurri colours, Dumfries has displayed immense physical power and a remarkable eye for goal. His story is one of ambition, knowing his value and striving to prove it to the world. Always seeking improvement, he dedicates himself fully to the team, a mindset ingrained since his youth. Dumfries’ willpower has been his defining trait, even as a teenager. Up until the age of 17, he played for an amateur side, Barendrecht, near Rotterdam where he was born in 1996. His breakthrough came in the 2014/15 season when he signed for Sparta Rotterdam, marking his professional debut. His relentless runs down the right wing soon became his trademark. In 2017, he moved to Heerenveen, and just a year later, he joined PSV, where he solidified his status and earned his dream call-up to the Dutch national team.
Dumfries joined Inter in the summer of 2021, becoming the eleventh Dutch player in the club’s history. He made his Serie A debut in a 4-0 win over Genoa. His first goal came in Rome, sealing a 3-0 win against the Giallorossi. By the end of the season, Dumfries had netted five league goals and lifted his first two trophies with Inter: the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia, both won in finals against Juventus.
In his second year at Inter, Dumfries scored twice and delivered standout performances, playing a pivotal role in securing back-to-back domestic cup victories and helping the team reach the Champions League final.
Last season, Dumfries was instrumental in winning the Scudetto of the Second Star. His contributions in both attack and defence were vital to the fluidity of Inter's play. Crucially, his three goals against Cagliari, Sassuolo, and Salernitana forever etched his name in Inter’s history as he reached 100 appearances for the club.
This season has started on a high note for Dumfries: the Dutchman has scored against Monza and Juventus and made 15 appearances in all competitions. And now the story continues.
