Paulo Dybala and Roma are having a drama-free January after the rumors about Galatasaray and his summer U-turn about going to Al-Qadsiah. As expected, the Argentine met the conditions to trigger a renewal until 2026 thanks to his recent run of starts.
Director Florent Ghisolfi confirmed it to DAZN on Sunday (via Goal).
“We can say officially that the extension has been activated. We’re very happy because he’s an important figure for the club and our fans.”
Dybala is now tied to Roma until June 2026. As in previous windows, a €12M release clause will be valid for a portion of it, Fabrizio Romano relays.
La Joya will compound the bonuses he has amassed so far with his previous salary, so the figure will balloon to €8M annually, La Gazzetta dello Sport informed. The Giallorossi will try to open talks to dilute it by agreeing to a longer deal, although negotiating with his entourage has often been arduous.
Their exec dished on other possible moves.
“Some teams are interested in Mario Hermoso, but nothing has been decided for now. We need to sign a new center-back even though we have some versatile players who could fill in. We’d have to intervene if he left.”
The biggest shocker is that he has stayed healthy despite not being managed almost at all. Perhaps Claudio Ranieri has found the right formula in training. The Giallorossi have enjoyed him at a discount rate so far and will surely try to do something about his salary, which is the third-highest in Serie A, but it’ll be quite the challenge.
