Manchester City’s number one choice goalkeeper Ederson has named the most difficult striker he has ever faced in the game, over a long and illustrious career to date.

The 31-year-old is currently in action with the Brazilian national team having completed another block of fixtures with Pep Guardiola’s side in an ever-intensifying season across several competitions.

Ederson’s most recent outing for the club saw him put in a strong individual performance to deny Fulham’s Adama Traore on several occasions, and ensure that Manchester City would protect their lead and emerge 3-2 victors after falling 0-1 behind earlier in the contest.

The Brazil national has endured multiple experiences during his time at the Etihad Stadium, having first joined the club in 2017, coming up against some of the very best strikers in the European game.

But one name appears to have stood out amongst all the rest, despite Ederson having faced the likes of Karim Benzema and Lautaro Martinez among others.

Speaking during a new interview with ESPN Brazil during the ongoing international break, Manchester City’s mainstay goalkeeper has shown no hesitation in naming the one striker that has been the most difficult to come up against across his career so far.

“Man, I’ve faced a few strikers, especially in the Premier League. But I think the most difficult one, the one I’ve seen with the most quality, is Harry Kane,” Ederson said of the now-Bayern Munich and England international forward.

Ederson continued on the former Tottenham Hotspur striker, “He has an absurd quality, both inside the box and outside, when he comes out to receive play, he has a lot of quality. So, from my point of view, he was one of the best strikers I’ve ever faced.”

Whilst the former Benfica shot-stopper remains Pep Guardiola’s number one choice between the sticks at present, he is facing significant competition for the leading role from German back-up Stefan Ortega Moreno.

The 30-year-old has not hidden his intentions to take on Manchester City’s most senior goalkeeping role, and even considered moves away from the club during the last summer market to progress his career further.
