It was reported that the midfielder would be signing for four years, with United having the option to extend it by a year.

When news emerged of the agreement, The Peoples Person relayed that medical and other details would be sorted in early July.

Ederson set for United medical today

With the 26-year-old called up to Brazil’s World Cup squad as a late addition, fans feared the deal would be delayed.

However, Corriere Dello Sport have revealed that the 20-time English league champions have wasted little time in getting their affairs in order.

Following Brazil’s World Cup opener against Morocco, Ederson is scheduled to have his United medical in New York.

“After the match against Morocco, the Brazilian midfielder will undergo a medical in New York for his transfer to Manchester United, at which point he will be able to commit permanently to the English club.

United can announce the deal very soon

“A huge deal: €45 million to Atalanta, a deal sealed almost a month ago to beat Atletico Madrid, only the final formalities are missing. Tomorrow, precisely. Then there will be the signatures.”

The summer transfer window officially opens on Monday, so technically, United could announce the deal then.

Alternatively, they could wait until Brazil’s World Cup journey is over before announcing the completion of the deal.

United fans will be eager to catch a glimpse of their latest recruit at the World Cup, with Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti even trialling the midfielder as a right-back during training.

He was an unused substitute as the Selecao were held to a 1-1 draw by Morocco late on Saturday.
