Eduardo Camavinga has been adjudged go not be fit enough to participate in France’s final World Cup qualifier. The midfielder has therefore returned to Madrid.

Camavinga was not involved in France’s win over Ukraine on Thursday. The Real Madrid midfielder looked on, having not participated in first-team training this week at Clairefontaine. There was a question mark surrounding the Stade Rennais academy product’s capacity to be fit to face Azerbaijan on Sunday.

Manu Koné also leaves France camp

Speaking after the 4-0 win over Ukraine, Didier Deschamps said that Camavinga is not injured but that there is discomfort in his thigh, and given the lack of stakes, given that Les Bleus have now qualified for next summer’s FIFA World Cup, he will play no part. He will now return to parent club Real Madrid.

Manu Koné is another player returning to his parent club. The midfielder was yellow-carded against Ukraine, and so he is suspended for the match against Azerbaijan. He returns to AS Roma.
