Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan is among a number of players who could face an uncertain end to the transfer window at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Reading will want to focus on incomings rather than potential departures between now and the end of the window.

The League One side have been unable to get busy in the transfer market this summer due to their ownership situation - and the fact their accounts haven't been submitted may have been a barrier in their potential quest to get deals over the line.

Their inability to make signings hasn't been ideal, considering the Royals have lost quite a few players since the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Not only have Dom Ballard, Zane Monlouis and Paul Mukairu left following the end of their loan spells at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, but Matty Carson, Nesta Guinness-Walker, Sam Hutchinson and Clinton Mola have also departed, having left following the end of their contracts.

With all of these players leaving and no players coming in, that has left the Royals with a major shortage of depth and there's plenty of work to be done between now and the end of the transfer window.

However, they must also brace themselves for interest in some of their star players, having made a fairly positive start to the campaign. And some youngsters could potentially exit the club on loan to secure more game time.

Below, we take a look at a few players who face an uncertain end to the summer transfer window in Berkshire.

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan has enjoyed a brilliant start to the 2024/25 season, scoring on the opening day against Birmingham City and grabbing a goal and an assist against Wigan Athletic.

He has made the left-wing spot his own at the SCL Stadium, but the Royals could be the victims of his early-season success if other sides sit up and take notice of him.

Some teams could see the remainder of the window as an opportunity to get a deal over the line for the player, considering his contract runs out in 2025.

With the player yet to put pen to paper on a new contract, that may put a ceiling on the amount that the Berkshire outfit can demand for him.

But the club don't have many wingers at their disposal and with this in mind, they will surely fight hard to retain him beyond the end of August 30th.

Jack Senga (Loan)

Midfielder Jack Senga was included in Tuesday night's EFL Trophy game against West Ham's U21 team and with this in mind, his game time looks set to be limited at a senior level this term.

That's a shame for Senga, who looked promising against Sunderland U21s not so long ago and could be strong enough physically to play a big role in the Royals' first team.

But with the likes of Lewis Wing, Michael Craig and now Shay Spencer seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order, the defensive midfielder could benefit from a loan move.

Extending his contract for a further year should be a priority before they send him out on a temporary spell - and if given the chance to thrive at a senior level elsewhere - he could impress.

It makes little sense to keep him in the U21s unless Ruben Selles believes he has a chance of playing for the Royals' first team at some point this season.

Michael Stickland (Loan)

U21s manager Noel Hunt (pictured above) will want to see Michael Stickland feature for the first team sooner rather than later.

And pre-season could have been his chance to shine, with Monlouis departing and Nelson Abbey, Tom Holmes and Tom McIntyre all leaving in January.

However, Abraham Kanu is now ahead of him in the pecking order and that makes him the fifth-choice centre-back at best, even without considering Jeriel Dorsett who can play in this position.

20-year-old Stickland is at an age where he needs to be playing senior football now.
