FC Bayern are pressing ahead with their plans for the future – and have their sights firmly set on a top German talent. A thrilling duel with Borussia Dortmund is currently developing in the bidding for Kennet Eichhorn, once again underlining the strategic importance of young players in modern soccer

The 16-year-old midfielder from Hertha BSC is regarded as one of the greatest promises of his age group. After missing out on promotion, the Berliners are under financial pressure, which is why a sale in the summer is becoming increasingly likely. According to the Berliner Zeitung, Eichhorn is one of the hottest candidates for a departure alongside goalkeeper Tjark Ernst

While BVB are currently said to be ahead financially in the race for the junior international, FC Bayern are working on an alternative solution – and could therefore have the decisive advantage on their side

Bayern see Eichhorn as a player of the future

According to Sky, Eichhorn enjoys an excellent reputation internally at Säbener Straße, where those responsible see him as a „man of the future“ and want to develop the defensive midfielder in the long term

The rumored transfer fee in the region of ten to twelve million euros also shows how highly the talent is rated – especially as Eichhorn has already attracted the interest of numerous top international clubs despite his young age. In addition to Bayern and Dortmund, Manchester City, Arsenal, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are also said to be monitoring the player

Nevertheless, the race currently seems to be coming down to a German duel – with an open outcome

Krattenmacher could become the deciding factor

FC Bayern are apparently working on a creative transfer model in the background, in which Maurice Krattenmacher could play a central role. The 20-year-old is currently on loan from Munich to Hertha BSC and has established himself as a valuable option in Berlin despite injury problems

Hertha managing director Peter Görlich confirmed talks with FC Bayern to the media: „We are in talks with FC Bayern about Maurice Krattenmacher.“ He also hinted that a larger deal was possible: „Maybe something will work out.“

According to the report, a possible package transfer is being discussed, according to which Bayern could sign Eichhorn and in return transfer Krattenmacher to Berlin permanently – supplemented by a double-digit transfer fee. This would be an attractive solution for Hertha: urgently needed income and at the same time planning security on the wings

Krattenmacher has made 21 appearances this season, six of them in the starting eleven, and coach Stefan Leitl is said to be very interested in signing him permanently – also in view of the unclear future of Fabian Reese

This creates an exciting situation for FC Bayern: while Dortmund are putting the pressure on financially, Munich are relying on creativity and strategic skill

The transfer poker for Kennet Eichhorn has begun – and could end up being decided by more than just money
