Earlier today, FC Barcelona took a giant step towards the much-awaited return to the Spotify Camp Nou in an official capacity. Nearly 22,000 fans were present for the re-opening of the stadium during an open training session. There are even indications that the game against Athletic Bilbao on November 22 could be held here.

Interestingly, it was not just some of the fans who got their first glimpse of the magnificent stadium. Even some players in the Barcelona squad had never played at the Camp Nou and stepped on the pitch for the first time today.

According to Mundo Deportivo, eight players appeared at the stadium for the very first time in their careers: Pau Cubarsi, Fermin Lopez, Joan Garcia, Marc Bernal, Roony Bardghji, Marc Casado, Gerard Martin and Dani Olmo.

Olmo is the oldest of the group and came through the ranks of La Masia many years ago, but he never visited the Camp Nou with any of his previous clubs. The other players have come through the ranks in the past couple of seasons.

Casado is an interesting case, as he made his debut for Barcelona while the team were still playing at the old Camp Nou. However, the 22-year-old featured only in away games and never got a chance in front of the home crowd.

Joan Garcia has visited the stadium in the past with Espanyol but remained an unused substitute. The reception for an open training session was magnificent, so just imagine how it will feel to see the likes of Lamine don the Barcelona shirt and play in front of a packed Camp Nou for the first time. The day is not far off, and let us hope it turns out to be as spectacular as it sounds.
