Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller has confirmed that Kaua Santos and Jonathan Burkardt will both be included in his squad for Friday’s away clash with Bayer Leverkusen after recovering from injuries.

“From a personnel standpoint, things look very good,” Toppmöller said at a press conference on Thursday.

“The boys have returned healthy from the international break. Unfortunately, Mario Götze is not yet an option. The good news: Jonathan Burkardt and Kaua Santos will be back in the squad.”

There has been speculation about whether Santos, who has been out since April, could replace Michael Zetterer in goal once fully fit, but Toppmöller stayed tight-lipped.

“We’re excited that Santos is fit to play again, and we have a clear plan for him. As for who will be in goal tomorrow, you’ll have to wait and see.”

Meanwhile, Ellyes Skhiri is still working his way back to full fitness after recovering from a knee injury.

“We’re glad to have Ellyes back,” Toppmöller said of the central midfielder, who was an unused substitute in Frankfurt’s 3-1 win over Hoffenheim before the international break.

“His knee injury was unfortunate, and it required a lot of patience. In training, he’s made a great impression. We’ll gradually reintegrate him into the team through one or two planned appearances.”
