Eirik Bakke says Leeds are on course to re-emerge as a top club under Daniel Farke.
"I really feel that Leeds are on the right track now," said the former midfielder. He was speaking to The Peacock News, the Leeds United Supporters Club of Scandinavia magazine.
Farke’s side overcame a rough patch, secured survival with games to spare and finished 14th in their first season back, the second time since 2020 Leeds have stayed up after promotion.
Bakke spent seven years at Elland Road, making 195 appearances, and featured 37 times in Europe, including 15 Champions League games en route to the 2000/01 semi-finals against elite opponents such as AC Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
He relished the Elland Road noise on the club’s Premier League return, with sell-outs and a raucous 3-1 defeat of Chelsea. "I like the way we play," he said.
"Next season we have to establish ourselves among the top 10 teams in the Premier League," said Bakke. "I am absolutely sure we will achieve that." "I have a great appreciation for the way Daniel Farke leads. He is a nice guy who is absolutely right for Leeds as the club is now run by sensible and down-to-earth owners."
The club are owned by 49ers Enterprises.
