Hugo Ekitike believes he can become ‘one of the best forwards in the world’ at Liverpool.
The Frenchman has impressed during his debut season with the Reds, after signing from Eintracht Frankfurt in a £69m deal last summer. Ekitike is Liverpool’s leading scorer this season and has netted 16 goals in all competitions.
His performances have seen Ekitike break into the France squad and he’s expected to feature for Les Bleus at this summer’s World Cup.
The 23-year-old is relishing his time in the Premier League and says he always dreamed of representing a club of Liverpool’s size.
Asked by Owen Hargreaves whether he thinks he can become one of the world’s best, Ekitike said: “I think I can. I think I can,” he told TNT Sports.
Hugo Ekitiké has completed more dribbles (35) than any other Premier League striker this season. ⚡️–
“There’s room for improvement. I have to work more, progress, but obviously I’m where I wanted to be.
“I’m here and when I say ‘I’m not scared of anything’ it’s because I don’t fear being under pressure. People having expectations for me, I actually love that.
“It’s exciting for me to be here, to play big games, and be involved in big competitions. I always wanted to be there and playing those games, and be at such a big club.”
